On my walks in urban tracts of abused wilderness I find dead trees that seem to be beckoning for us to listen to their plight. Each of these sculptures embodies a phrase from a female environmentalist or writer concerned with the Earth. Many of these women like Rachel Carson spoke up decades ago and were ignored or belittled at first. The forest has been witness to our hubris for centuries now. I am giving these beings a presence and a voice. Each pedestal is customized to the wood it supports and is on wheels. I hope to have a procession in a public place to start ponderings and conversations about our relationship to our Mother Earth.
